Tenth Fatburger location in Greater Edmonton demonstrates growth of popular chain

SHERWOOD PARK, AB,CANADA  – The co-branded Fatburger and Buffalo’s Express restaurant opening next week in Sherwood Park’s reimagined Baseline Village shopping centre promises to satisfy every appetite with hearty breakfasts, big and juicy hamburgers, tasty wings, delectable chicken sandwiches, gourmet ice cream treats, beer, cocktails and much more.

The new restaurant will be conveniently situated in a 2, 200 sq. ft. end cap location at 222 Baseline Road #165 in the centre.  This is the chain’s 10th location in Greater Edmonton, and the second unit for franchisee Leok Chung, who also owns the Westlink Fatburger restaurant.  Chung is partnering on this location with fellow franchisee Rohit Dhawin, owner of the Gateway & 34thAvenue Fatburger.

Echoing the burger chain’s 1950s beginning in urban Los Angeles, the restaurant will feature exciting décor that blends mid-century burger joint kitsch with plenty of 21st century cool, including a great sound system and flat screen TVs. Television, movie and sports celebrities often claim Fatburger as their favorite and many have been involved as franchisees.

“We are delighted to return to the Edmonton area with yet another great new location, this time serving the upscale community of Sherwood Park,” said Frank Di Benedetto, the Fatburger franchisor for Canada, and CEO of Frankie’s Burger Enterprises and the Ricky’s All Day Grill chain, all part of the FDF Restaurant Brandz family-style restaurant group.

Inside the new restaurant is a Buffalo’s Express, satisfying guests with a wide assortment of world-famous wings and tenders tossed in a choice of 13 signature sauce creations, ranging from mild to extra spicy, including tantalizing options like Asian Sesame, Honey Garlic, Coconut Jerk, and the aptly named Death Valley. Guests can even mix the signature sauces to create their own one-of-a-kind, flavourful wing experience, and enjoy them with salads, fries and other items.

Served until 4 PM daily, the all-day breakfast special satisfies just about any appetite with three tasty options in L, XL and XXL portions. Each offers two eggs, cooked over easy or scrambled, with home-style hash browns and Texas toast. Order the large entrée and choose from two strips of maple bacon, or two breakfast sausage links, or two fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The XL lets you double up with two of the side order choices, or pick the XL and enjoy all three. Other options include assorted breakfast sandwiches and a grilled cinnamon bun.  Wash it all down with orange juice, apple juice or coffee.

Made with fresh, never frozen, hand pressed, cooked-to-order AAA Canadian Alberta beef – the highest quality beef of any burger chain in Canada – Fatburgers can be enjoyed with all the usual condiments, plus many inspired choices such as chili, bacon, mushrooms, guacamole, jalapeños, an assortment of cheeses, and even a fried egg.

Fatburger accompaniments include fresh cooked, trans fat-free skin-on fries, sweet potato yam fries, homemade onion rings and a Caesar salad. Only the freshest produce, including hand-cut lettuce, centre-cut beefsteak tomatoes and fresh-cut onions, qualifies to be served at Fatburger.

For hungrier patrons, there’s a one-half-pound Kingburger, a three-quarter-pound Double Fatburger, and the baddest burger on the block – the Triple Kingburger.  This monster of a burger features three patties (a pound and a half) of hand-packed, specially seasoned Angus beef served on an artisan sesame seed bun with lettuce, deli dill pickles and your choice of four cheeses, plus tomato, onion, and any of our other popular toppings.

But there’s more on the menu than burgers. Tasty options include lean sage and rosemary infused Turkeyburgers made exclusively for the chain that are served with real cranberry sauce, Veggieburgers custom-made for Fatburger with real vegetables, plus Cajun Chicken and Chicken Caesar entree salads, snack size greens and more.

There’s also an assortment of famous chicken sandwiches made with full-sized white meat chicken breasts, including a Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich, a Crispy Chicken Filet, a Red Hot Buffalo Style Chicken Sandwich and a Cajun Chicken Cheddar Sandwich.

Fatburger is pleased to offer to “Lettuce Wrap Your Burger,” a gluten-free, low carb option for beef, as well as chicken, turkey and veggie entrees.  Of course, Fatburger hasn’t left the kids out either, offering combos featuring a cheeseburger, hotdog, grilled cheese sandwich or chick’n strips that include fries and a choice of soda, milk or lemonade.

Ready for something sweet?  Try the mini donuts frosted with sugar, cinnamon and spice.  To complement the chain’s “best anywhere” burger and other entrees are its “best anywhere” milkshakes made with real high butter fat, hand-scooped ice cream and available with real strawberries.  In fact, Fatburger has six delicious flavors of shakes to choose from, plus a seasonal featured shake.

Want more dessert options? There’s even a mini Marble Slab Creamery counter for more can’t-resist chilly ice cream treats.

Guests can also order refreshing beers on tap by the glass or pint, such as Whistler Lager and Corona/Stella Artois, plus bottled Heineken, along with frozen strawberry and lime-flavoured margaritas, and Smirnoff Ice and Mott’s Clamato Caesar cocktails.

There are approximately 45 Fatburger locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan, with a dozen more to be opened during 2015.
