There are about 70 locations in Canada, found mostly in the West Coast from BC to AB to MB, SK and even the Northwest Territories. In 2025, Fatburger Canada opened in Barrie, ON, with more Ontario locations underway.
Demographically, Fatburger’s appeal is limitless. Our customers come from every walk of life, including families, teenagers, seniors, people from all income levels and ethnic background, and importantly, everyone who loves a good hamburger.
Premium Ingredients. We start with fresh, never frozen Alberta Angus beef that is free from additives, binders and fillers. Our patties are cooked-to-order and never stored under a heat-lamp. Then we add fresh cut lettuce, tomatoes, onions and your choice of favourite free toppings. We even hand-bread our chicken tenders and onion rings. One bite and you’ll know why Fatburger has been legendary since 1952.
A typical Fatburger requires a total investment in the range of $450,000—$750,000 (less for food courts). A cash equity investment of $250,000—$350,000* is required.
There is a one-time franchisee fee of $50,000 Ongoing Royalties 6%, Marketing 3% (2% national fund, 1% local community marketing.
We have relationships with 3 national banks: TD (Toronto Dominion), BMO (Bank of Montreal) & RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). Each Franchisee is required to qualify for financing on their own merit.
The factors that influence profits are: quality of management, quality of location, operational standards of excellence, local & national economic factors, and the competitive environment in the local market.
We prefer to locate our restaurants in metro & urban mixed use developments and suburban retail centres. It’s our intention to continue our brand development in the West, and further introduce Fatburger to Eastern Canada and the Maritime provinces.
