WHAT DOES A FATBURGER COST?
A typical Fatburger requires a total investment in the range of $450,000—$750,000
(less for food courts). A cash equity investment of $250,000—$350,000* is required.
WHAT ARE THE FEES?
There is a franchisee fee of $50,000 Ongoing Royalties 6%, Marketing 3% (2% national
fund, 1% local community marketing)
DOES FATBURGER ARRANGE FINANCING?
We have relationships with 3 national banks: TD (Toronto Dominion), BMO (Bank of
Montreal) & RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). Each Franchisee is required to qualify for
financing on their own merit.
HOW MUCH MONEY CAN I MAKE?
The factors that influence profits are: quality of management, quality of location,
operational standards of excellence, local & national economic factors, and the
competitive environment in the local market.
WHERE DO YOU TYPICALLY OPEN FATBURGER FRANCHISES?
We prefer to locate our restaurants in metro & urban mixed use developments and
suburban retail centres. It’s our intention to continue our brand development in the West,
and further introduce Fatburger to Eastern Canada and the Maritime provinces.
DO I FIND MY OWN LOCATION?
Fatburger provides real estate and market research services. Our real estate department
conducts a site search analysis and secures the location for all of our franchises.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO OPEN?
It varies, but generally 12—18 months from being approved as a Franchisee/Owner Operator.
WHAT SIZE OF SPACE IS NEEDED?
Our typical restaurant unit is a 1,400—2,000 sq ft end cap corner unit, while our inline
urban locations range from 1,000—1,400 sq ft.
DO YOU HAVE DRIVE THRU’S?
While we are not typically a drive thru concept, we may consider including one on site for
specific locations.
WHAT TYPE OF MARKETING SUPPORT DO YOU PROVIDE?
We advertise on mainstream media including tv, radio & print. In addition we have a
strong profile on social media. Our message is consistent with the Fatburger brand with
a focus on Higher Quality, More Variety & Better Value as well as a sense of humour.
WHY WOULD YOU CALL YOURSELVES FATBURGER?
Fatburger’s inception was in 1952. At that time “Fat” meant “hip & cool” for example – Fat Cat.
Besides, when you make a burger this big and juicy, there’s only one name that fits!
